Welcome to Murder!!!

About:

Murder is a fun IRL group game about subtly giving people random items. To "kill" your assigned victim, you simply give them your assigned item in the assigned place without them getting suspicious. After killing someone you say "MURDER!" and then get tasked with their murder. Last man standing wins.
This program uses a simple interface to give players a random murder task. It also saves the list of everyone's murders in case someone forgets. Advantages of using a computer:

  • I'm an IT nerd, why not?
  • It prevents multiple "murder loops" where the game seems to end more than once.

Game rules:

  • Your victim must willingly take the item - no throwing things or forcing it into their hands etc.
  • The rules for what counts as the correct item/location are a bit complicated and very subjective. If the victim says it's ok then the murder counts. If not, good luck! For some more detailed guidlines, click here.
  • You must tell your victim they are dead after you murder them.
  • After you have been murdered, you must inform the person who murdered you of the item, person and place that you currently have. They now must complete this task.
  • You must not tell people about your assigned item, victim or place.
  • Ghosts are not allowed to announce they are dead. Only the people who were there at the time of death will know. However, if you are the last person to die then you MUST announce it to end the game. You will know you are the last person to die as the person who kills you will be the person you are assigned to kill.

Optional Rules

  • This one is little complicated but I like to play with at least some variation of it... If your victim correctly works out your item and location, and clearly knows that you are the one trying to kill them, then you have 1 day to complete the murder (or another predetermined amount of time). If you fail to complete the murder in this time (which is likely), then you must announce that you are "out" as well as the victim you failed to kill. You are not considered dead simply a failure. The person who was supposed to kill you now secretly makes a note of your victim. They keep the same item and location. This rule prevents a stalemate where eveyone knows who has who and nobody will take anything off anyone whilst still giving you a second chance to catch your victim by suprise. Note if using this rule a bit of initiative from the players as the system has no way of supporting this currently.
